Human Design appeared in 1987 when Canadian mystic and former advertising executive Robert Allan Krakower, who took the name Ra Uru Hu, described receiving a "transmitted" body of knowledge over eight days.

Eclectic origins. Despite its eclectic origins, the system has attracted a substantial following, particularly in spiritual-esoteric circles, and has given rise to an extensive community of practitioners and researchers.

The BodyGraph — Foundation of the System

The foundation of Human Design is the bodygraph — a diagram constructed from the date, time, and place of birth.

It integrates four sources:

  • Astrological planetary positions — at two points: the moment of birth and 88 days before it
  • The 64 hexagrams of the I Ching — each planet corresponds to a gate-hexagram
  • 9 chakra centers
  • 10 Sephiroth of the Kabbalah

Channels and centers. The combination of activated gates forms channels that are either "defined" or "undefined", establishing a map of the individual's energetic patterns.

Five Types and Strategies

  • Manifestorto inform others before acting
  • Generatorto wait for a response
  • Manifesting Generator
  • Projectorto wait for an invitation
  • Reflectorto wait for the lunar cycle

Inner Authority. Inner Authority (sacral, emotional, splenic, and others) indicates the mechanism for making decisions.

Place in Errarium

One of the most complex synthetic methods. Within Errarium, Human Design is one of the most complex synthetic methods on the platform.

Value and limitation. Its value lies in the attempt to create an integral language for describing individuality. Its limitation is that the theoretical foundations of each of the four source systems are distorted when combined.

Calls for critical engagement. The method calls for critical engagement: its internal logic is self-consistent, but it does not derive from the logic of the traditions it incorporates.
