Gates

Gates are the 64 key points of the BodyGraph (T032) in the Human Design system (#13), each corresponding to one I Ching hexagram (T060).

Entry points to the channels. Gates are the entry points of the 36 channels connecting the 9 centers of the BodyGraph.

Structure of Each Gate

• Number (1–64) — corresponds to a hexagram of the I Ching
• Name — archetypal quality (e.g., Gate 1 "Creativity", Gate 2 "The Direction of the Self")
• 6 Lines — detailing of manifestation (from 1st the investigator to 6th the role model)

Activation of the Gates at Birth

Personality and Design. The activation of Gates is determined by the positions of the planets in two "charts":

• Personality positions (black) — conscious qualities
• Design positions (red) — unconscious qualities, calculated about 88 days before birth

Defined and Hanging Channels

A defined channel. If both ends of a channel are activated (two Gates joined) — the channel is "defined", which affects Type and Authority (T033).

Hanging gates. If only one Gate is activated — they form "hanging gates", creating an attraction to people with the complementary Gates. This is how "chemistry" arises between people.
