Minor Arcana (Latin Arcana Minora; French Arcanes Mineurs) are the 56 cards of the Tarot deck, complementing the 22 Major Arcana (T082).
The everyday fabric of life. They describe everyday situations, interactions and types of people.
The Four Suits and Their Correspondences
- Wands (♣) — Fire, creativity, energy, ambition
- Cups (♥) — Water, emotions, relationships, intuition
- Swords (♠) — Air, mind, conflict, decisions
- Pentacles (♦) — Earth, the material world, health, finances
Structure of Each Suit
10 numbered cards (Ace–Ten) — the development of a theme from birth to completion:
- Ace — birth
- Ten — culmination
4 court cards:
- Page — the student
- Knight — action
- Queen — mastery
- King — power
Major vs Minor
Archetypes and everyday life. Minor Arcana are the "everyday fabric of life", whereas the Major Arcana are the "archetypal turning points".
A multidimensional picture. In a spread (T031), their combination creates a multidimensional picture of the situation: the Majors set the theme of destiny, the Minors give the concrete scenes.
