Spread

Spread · Spread (Latin)

RU: Расклад

Spread (also layout; French tirage) is a symbolic configuration of Tarot cards capturing an archetypal storyline at a specific point of space-time in response to a synchronistic query.

Not prediction, but snapshot. A spread captures an archetypal snapshot of a moment, not a forecast of a predetermined future.

Main Types of Spreads

  • Celtic Cross (10 cards) — the classic multi-layered spread: situation, obstacle, past, future, inner, outer, outcome
  • Three cards (Past–Present–Future) — the minimal narrative spread
  • Horseshoe (7 cards) — an extended linear spread
  • Tree of Life (10 cards) — a Kabbalistic spread by sephiroth
  • Card of the Day (1 card) — a daily attunement practice

Position Semantics

Position = context. The structure of a spread defines the semantic field of interpretation: the position of a card sets the context of its meaning. The same card in the position "past" and in the position "advice" reads differently.

Spread in Errarium

An "event" format. In the Errarium context, a spread is the format of an "event" (a core concept of the platform): the cards record an archetypal snapshot of a concrete moment, not a forecast of a predetermined future.

Translation note

Translate as 'tarot spread'. The layout is a synchronistic crystallization of meaning. Each position has a semantic role defined by the querent's question.
