Stellium

Stellium · Stellium (Latin)

RU: Стеллиум

Stellium (Latin stellium — "a cluster of stars"; from stella — "star") is a gathering of three or more planets in a single sign or house of the natal chart.

A zone of concentration. A stellium creates a dominant zone of energy and attention in a person's life — a "magnet" around which the key themes of destiny take shape.

Stellium in a Sign

Psychological coloring. A stellium in a sign defines the psychological coloring of the personality: a person with a stellium in Scorpio lives life through transformation, control and depth.

Stellium in a House

A stellium in a house defines the sphere of life:

  • Stellium in the 7th house — "life through relationships"
  • Stellium in the 10th house — through career and public life
  • Stellium in the 12th house — through seclusion and spiritual search

A Debated Question — Which Planets to Count

Strict vs broad approach. Should the Sun, Moon and the trans-Saturnian planets (Uranus, Neptune, Pluto) be counted? The strict approach — only the classical 7 planets; the broad one — all 10.

Strengthening through conjunctions. A stellium is strengthened when the planets are in conjunction (T087) with each other — within ±10° of each other.

The Jyotish Analog

Yogas instead of stellium. The term is specific to Western astrology (#1); in Jyotish (#18) the analogous phenomenon is described through "yogas" (planetary configurations), for example Pravrajya Yoga (4+ planets in a single sign).

Translation note

Retain as 'stellium'. Western astrology-specific term with no direct equivalent in other traditions. Do not map to Jyotish or Ba Zi without explicit qualification.
