Directions · Directions (Latin)
RU: Дирекции
Directions (Latin directio — "direction"; Solar Arc Directions; German Sonnenbogendirektionen) is a predictive technique in which natal points (planets, axes) are advanced at a fixed speed.
Solar Arc Direction
The most widespread variant. Solar Arc Direction is the most widespread variant:
- All natal points advance by the same amount = the current Solar Arc (approximately 1° per year, but the exact value depends on the speed of the Sun on the day of birth)
- When a directed point reaches a natal planet or a midpoint (T092), an activation occurs: an event manifests
- Orb of precision: 0°–1° (narrow, after Ebertin)
Historical Types of Directions
- Primary Directions — based on the Earth's daily rotation, the most complex to calculate, used by Ptolemy
- Symbolic Directions — 1° = 1 year (the simplified version)
Use in Cosmobiology
Ebertin's main tool. In Ebertin's Cosmobiology (#42), Solar Arc Direction is the main predictive instrument alongside transits and midpoints.
The 90-degree Dial. The result is recorded on the 90-degree Dial for visual alignment of all aspects.
Translation note
Retain as 'directions'. Provide context in parentheses when first mentioned.
